Program Overview

Are you accredited?

Yes. Blackstone Career Institute is an accredited member of the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC), a nationally recognized accrediting agency for distance learning schools, and is regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Secondary Schools. Accreditation assures the student that our curriculum, faculty, administrative procedures, and polices meet the accrediting agencies’ exceptionally high standards. Is your program online?

Yes, all of our Blackstone programs are available online. We offer online testing with instant results, online access to lessons, student account information, school discussion boards, additional resources, and chat rooms.

What is the difference between the career courses/certificate programs/continuing education courses you offer?

Our career courses are developed to provide the educational standards needed to gain entry level work in the chosen field. Our certificate courses are designed to enhance skills in specific subject matter that is aligned with one of our career courses. The continuing education courses are to develop in-depth knowledge in particular areas of the law. These courses are intended for those looking for CLE’s, to gain specialized knowledge and/or to enhance personal development.

How can I get free information on one of your courses?

It’s easy! Just click here or go to the top of the page and click the “Request Info” button to the right. Fill out the required fields and download the material. What if I need help choosing a career?

Will other schools accept my coursework?

While some schools may accept credits from Blackstone, it is at the discretion of the receiving school. You need to check with the school’s admissions office.

Am I allowed to take the correspondence version of your Paralegal program?

This course is designed specifically for our incarcerated students to allow them to use their time productively. Those who are not incarcerated are required to enroll in our Online course for Paralegal. The online program has various online resources including 4 month subscription of LexisAdvance® that is not included in our correspondence program. These resources are pertinent to doing online research and will be an instrumental part of your Paralegal career.

Are students living outside the United States permitted to enroll?

We welcome international students. However, they are required to participate under the full-tuition payment plan. Payment plan options and cancellation policies do not apply. In addition, international students are required to pay for the shipping cost should there be any materials that need to be sent. We strongly recommend you check with your requirements in your country to see if our course will be recognized for employment there. Please click here for more information. Student Life

How soon can I complete one of your programs?

One of the major advantages in taking a Blackstone program is that you are able to work at your own pace. Many students complete in less than eight months and some take the full time allotted. Students work at a pace that is ideal for them within the payment plan they have chosen.

Does Blackstone Career Institute provide placement service?

Since we are strictly a distance learning school, we are unable to provide job placement. We do feel confident that our programs provide the necessary education needed in seeking new employment. Our new Career Center will assist students and graduates in their search for successful employment.

When and how will I receive my program materials?

Students can access and begin their course the same day as enrollment. Once enrolled, we email your student credentials to our Online Student Center and instructions to start. E-codes are sent the next business day. Please note not all courses use an e-book.

What if I don't receive my materials?

All student material is located within the Online Student Center. If you did not receive an email with your login credentials within 24 hours of enrollment, please contact the school at 800-826-9228 or email us at info@blackstone.edu. Please note not all courses use an e-book and e-books are sent the following business day.

Can I purchase the textbooks if I don't want to use the e-book(s) that you offer?

As an online school, our courses are designed to use e-books for convenience of studying on the go and to allow us to keep the cost down. We do not have textbook inventory to substitute the e-books. However, the ISBN numbers are listed under the “Materials” tab for most courses and you can look into purchasing the book from another source. Our Paralegal course is the exception and you can purchase the full set of Modern American Law books for $199 by clicking here.

What happens if I fail an exam?

Students are allowed one re-test of a failed exam. The highest grade a student can score on a re-test is 70 percent. If the student should fail the re-test, the highest score of the two failed exams will be reflected on the student transcript.

How can I change my student information?

What if I have a problem with my studies, whom do I contact?

Can I request a copy of my transcript at any time?

Upon graduation, you will receive a diploma or certificate of completion and an official transcript of grades. Additional transcripts and diplomas/certificates are available for a nominal fee. At your request, transcripts can be sent to other schools.

What happens if I do not complete my studies within my tuition period?

Blackstone Career Institute will grant a study extension to students who are unable to complete their studies in the required time frame. We offer a 6 month extension for a nominal fee. Any additional time will be evaluated for approval by our Education Department.

Upon completion, when and how to I receive my graduation documents?

Graduation documents are mailed to the student once they have completed all academic and financial obligations in their course. The documents are mailed to the current address on file. If you have a new address or preferred them mailed to a different address, please contact us ASAP.

Tuition

Why are your tuition costs relatively inexpensive?

With the cost of education constantly rising, we strive to offer affordable, yet comprehensive programs to our students. Our courses and tuition plans are aligned with our goals. We provide quality material with the flexibility of payment plans and self-paced programs that allow our students to achieve success without the worry of debt.

Whom do i call with a billing or payment question?

Your Online Student Center is designed to provide you with all the student information you need. The payment section allows you to submit a payment, review recent payments, or print a receipt. If you need to update your payment, please call us at 1-800-826-9228.

What is included with tuition?

All materials are included with the tuition cost of your program. For more information on course specific materials, please visit the course page and look at the “Materials” tab for a detailed list.

Can I choose my own payment plan?

Blackstone Career Institute provides payment flexibility with 3 different payment options. Student may select 1 of the 3 options, but are unable to create a different plan. If you want to pay more than the down payment to start, please contact us after your enrollment.
