Accounting/Financial Manager

Role Overview:

An experienced Accounting/Financial Manager with general business experience to handle financial functions necessary to run a high-performing online education services company. Performs all in-depth accounting, financial management, bookkeeping, and general office functions.  This management position reports directly to the company owners.

Financial:

  • A/R and A/P responsibilities
  • Ensure payroll and benefit administration is processed and complies with corporate and government policies and procedures
  • Manage organizational cash flow on a weekly basis for all company brands
  • Maintain confidential company financial files
  • Work closely with the CEO and Manager of Business Operations to assist in development of annual budget. Actively report weekly, daily or as requested, on the business budget throughout the year
  • Responsible for business purchasing process by establishing clear systems for staff to request items, work with Manager of Business Operations to place vendor orders, track delivery, and coding and submit purchase orders, invoices, and reimbursement requests
  • Serve as the point of contact regarding finance and work with the business’s CPA firm to ensure financial compliance and reporting
  • Work with CPA firm to maintain accurate receipts and supporting documentation for all purchases
  • Prepare the business to successfully pass the annual financial and regulatory audits
  • Work with the CEO to develop improved financial guidelines and procedures
  • Provide critical financial input and guidance to the CEO & Manager of Business Operations to constantly improve the operation and financial condition of the company

Operations, Technology, Equipment & Systems

  • Coordinate the bidding process for new contracts as needed with Manager of Business Operations
  • Solicit new contractors for office repairs as needed
  • Ensure that students and staff have access to needed technology in collaboration with the business’s information technology partner(s).
  • Assist in the annual business review process to ensure that offices are ready to operate and student services group is well managed. This includes furniture, equipment, business supplies as needed
  • Assist in reordering replacement equipment as needed throughout the business year

 Human Resources: 

  • Oversee the arrival and departure of all employees alongside the Manger of Business Operations
  • Develop and maintain human resources, compensation and benefits plans, group health insurance, short term disability, Life insurance, employment ads, new hire paperwork, DLS business and workman’s comp policy
  • Develop and monitor staff arrival time and vacation calendar alongside the Manager of Business Operations
  • Assist the management team with making sure the staff adheres to DLS’s company policies- i.e. management meetings, evaluation reports
  • Work with local colleges for the hiring of DLS’s interns alongside the Manager of Business Operations
  • Assist in organizational training and development efforts
  • Generate and maintain Board of Director’s Meeting minutes
  • Maintain company confidential Human Resource files

Job Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Highly organized, flexible and works independently in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Minimum 2-5 years of experience in financial management
  • Ability to develop, implement, and manage all aspects of Quick Books Software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
  • Sense of humility, customer service driven with the ability to proactively solve problems and make decisions quickly
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and stakeholder management and relationship building skills
