Since your externship takes place in a clinical environment, you may need to meet certain site-specific requirements before getting started.

To be eligible for an externship, students must complete all Home Health Aide coursework, hold a minimum 70% grade average, and have their tuition paid in full.

Students are responsible for finding and securing an externship at a local home health agency, with final approval required before getting started. Below is a list of the most common requirements to be approved for an externship, however you may be asked to provide additional information and/or documentation to your externship site. He has been a Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist for over 25 years and is also a Certified Dementia Practitioner. He is currently the Activity Coordinator and Dementia Care Instructor on the Memory Care Unit at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Virginia Beach, VA. He enjoys surfing and is the Director of Operations for Life Rolls On – They Will Surf Again Virginia Beach.

Cancellations within the first 5 days of enrollment receive a full refund. After the first 5 days, your refund amount is based on tuition collected, lessons completed and enrollment date. Enrolling at Blackstone is easy, with our open enrollment you can enroll anytime. To qualify, a high school diploma or an equivalent along with access to a Microsoft Windows compatible PC or MAC with Internet access is needed. All applicants must complete our Enrollment Agreement along with the required down payment for processing. Applications will be processed only if they are accompanied with the required payment. As an online school, our courses use eBooks for convenience of studying on the go and to allow us to keep tuition costs down. We do provide the ISBN information for each eBook under the materials tab. Students who wish to purchase a physical copy of the eBook can simply use the ISBN number provided on our website to purchase the book through a third party like amazon or chegg.com.

Students who pay in full for their program will have access to all of their materials once enrolled. Students who enroll under a monthly payment plan will have access to a new unit every month upon making their monthly payment.

One of the major advantages of taking Blackstone’s online Home Health Aide training Program is that students can work at their own pace. Many students complete the program in 8 -12 months. Students have up to 24 months from their enrollment date to complete and graduate from their program.

To be eligible for an externship, students must:

  • complete all Home Health Aide coursework
  • hold a minimum 70% grade average
  • have their tuition paid in full

Students are responsible to locate and obtain approval for the externship at a home health agency in their area.

Below is a list of the most common requirements to be approved for an externship, however you may be asked to provide additional information and/or documentation to your externship site. Additional details regarding this list is found on the following page. Please note that items marked with an asterisk (*) may incur a cost which is the responsibility of the student:

  • Current resume
  • Physical exam, including health history and immunization record completed by your physician (form available in the Online Student Center)*
  • Copy of valid driver’s license and current auto insurance*
  • CPR certification*
  • Student liability coverage*
  • Criminal background check including sex offender and child abuse check*
  • Drug screen*
  • Externship agreement, completed and signed by student and externship representative

Blackstone’s online programs are designed to prepare students for entry-level careers. While some schools may accept credits from Blackstone, it is at the discretion of the receiving school. Simply check with the school’s admissions office.
