To be eligible for an externship, students must:
- complete all Home Health Aide coursework
- hold a minimum 70% grade average
- have their tuition paid in full
Students are responsible to locate and obtain approval for the externship at a home health agency in their area.
Below is a list of the most common requirements to be approved for an externship, however you may be asked to provide additional information and/or documentation to your externship site. Additional details regarding this list is found on the following page. Please note that items marked with an asterisk (*) may incur a cost which is the responsibility of the student:
- Current resume
- Physical exam, including health history and immunization record completed by your physician (form available in the Online Student Center)*
- Copy of valid driver’s license and current auto insurance*
- CPR certification*
- Student liability coverage*
- Criminal background check including sex offender and child abuse check*
- Drug screen*
- Externship agreement, completed and signed by student and externship representative
