Civil Litigation
Are you an established paralegal seeking advancement with a civil litigation law firm? This course contains a balanced mix of legal theory and practical legal skills designed to inform as well as challenge you. The course addresses the skills you must develop in order to become an effective paralegal from the first contact with the client, through trial and post-judgment. You will gain a deeper understanding of the litigation process, including the relevant rules and procedures. You will also explore the role you will play as a paralegal in a litigation trial. The e-textbook for this course contains a new chapter on social media in litigation, recent supreme court cases and developments intertwined with the presentation of procedural rules, and realistic examples of motions, pleadings, and discovery requests. You will learn the legal terms of litigation, receive tips on drafting documents commonly used in litigation, and read about popular alternatives to litigation.
- Prerequisite: High School or General Equivalency Diploma
- Study Method: E-books with online study guides and exams
- Program Length: Completion time ranges from 4-6 months, with students given the option of up to 6 months if needed. Students must satisfy all academic and financial obligations to graduate from their program.
