Blackstone recognizes the dedication of veterans, active-duty service members, and military families. We proudly accept Post‑9/11 GI Bill® and Montgomery GI Bill® benefits, along with other spouses eligible under the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35). Our flexible, self-paced, online programs make it easy to learn on your schedule.

Blackstone participates with the Post 9/11 (Chapter 33) and Montgomery (Chapter 30) GI Bill®’s. In addition, spouses eligible under the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (Chapter 35) may use their benefits with Blackstone.

Military Veterans Education Benefit Programs

The Post-9/11 GI Bill® offers educational financial support for veterans with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or that have been discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. If you have received an honorable discharge, you are eligible.

Veteran, and Spouses and dependent children

  • 100% eligible – veteran served at least 36 months of active duty service after Sept. 10, 2001
  • Tuition paid to school – up to full tuition for Blackstone career courses (correspondence)
  • Not eligible for housing allowance from VA GI Bill®

Active Duty and Spouse of Active Duty Member

  • 100% eligible – member has served at least 36 months of active duty service after Sept. 10, 2001
  • Tuition paid to school- up to full tuition for Blackstone career courses (correspondence)
  • Not eligible for housing allowance from VA GI Bill®

Veteran, and military spouses 

  • Less than 100% eligible – veteran served less than 36 months of active duty service after Sept. 10, 2001

The Montgomery G.I. Bill® program provides up to 36 months of education benefits for veterans. Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following your release for active duty. This program is also commonly known as Chapter 30.

  • Active Duty and Veterans who served on active duty for at least two years
  • 55% of tuition fees paid directly to student for Blackstone career courses (correspondence)

The Montgomery G.I. Bill® Selected Reserve program provides up to 36 months of education benefits for veterans. Generally, your eligibility for MGIB-SR benefits ends on the day you leave the selected reserve. This program is also commonly known as Chapter 1606.

  • Selected Reserve, including the Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve, and the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard

The Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (DEA) program provides up to 36 months of education benefits for the child or spouse of a veteran.  This program is also commonly known as Chapter 35.

  • Spouses of Veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition, or of Veterans who died while on active duty or as a result of a service-related condition
  • Tuition paid directly to the student for BCI career courses (correspondence – spouses only)

The Veteran Readiness and Employment (VR&E) program supply service members or Veterans that have a disability that was caused—or made worse—by their active-duty service and that limits their ability to work or prevents them from working, they may be able to get employment support or services to help them live as independently as possible. This program is also commonly known as Chapter 31.

Getting Started with GI Bill®

1. Verify GI Bill® Eligibility

Access the GI Bill® website or call 1-888-442-4551 to verify your eligibility and get assistance with the application process.

2. Apply for GI Bill® Benefits

Apply for GI Bill® benefits online. For assistance, please contact the VA at 1-888-442-4551.

3. Contact Blackstone

Contact a Blackstone Military Enrollment Advisor at 1-800-826-9228 with any questions or enroll online. Please select GI Bill® benefits as your payment option. In order to enroll with Blackstone, you will be contacted to submit a copy of your GI Bill® certificate of eligibility.

Military Education FAQ's

You are eligible if you served a minimum of 90 days on active duty after September 10, 2001. This covers active duty served as a member of the Armed Forces or as a result of a call or order to active duty from a reserve component (National Guard and Reserve) under certain sections of title 10. The Department of Veterans Affairs is the only resource that can answer your personal and specific GI Bill® entitlement questions. Call 1-888-GIBILL-1.

The Post-9/11 GI Bill® will pay tuition to Blackstone for your chosen career program based on your benefit percentage.

The GI Bill® will not cover the certification bundle. However, they will reimburse you. Learn more about this on their website. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to our GI Bill® representative at info@blackstone.edu or call 800-826-9228.

Yes, like the MGIB you are generally entitled to 36 months of educational assistance. You may not receive benefits under more than one VA education program at the same time. If you are entitled to more than one GI Bill® program you may be eligible for a maximum of 48 months of entitlement when using benefits under two or more GI Bill® programs.

Note: Individuals eligible under MGIB (Chapter 30) who elect to receive benefits under the Post 9/11 GI Bill® are only entitled to the number of months they had remaining under MGIB (Chapter 30) (including any revoked months of transferred entitlement) up to a maximum of 36 months.

All education programs previously available under the Montgomery GI Bill are approved under the Post-9/11 GI Bill®.

No, you will no longer be eligible under the MGIB or other programs, after you elect to switch to the Post 9/11 GI Bill® (Chapter 33). Any contributions being made under MGIB (Chapter 30) will cease the month following the election.

Yes. The Department of Defense (DoD) is authorized to allow individuals who, on or after August 1, 2009, have served at least 6 years in the Armed Forces and who agree to serve at least another 4 years in the Armed Forces to transfer unused entitlement to their Spouse. The Department of Defense may, by regulation, impose additional eligibility requirements and limit the number of months transferable to not less than 18 months. National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Public Health System (PHS) personnel are also eligible to transfer their entitlement to eligible dependents.
NOTE: The ability to transfer benefits is limited to those currently serving in the military.
